Storytelling is a valued tradition in medicine and an important component of professional mentorship. Each chapter of this book begins with a story based on an actual event to provide context and introduce the chapter’s theme. While these stories accurately reflect events as they occurred and their impact on becoming an intentional physician, names and recognizable details of many stories have been changed.
