I. Typology and History of Interference in Clinics

This chapter explores some of the long history of interference in law school clinics and provides a framework for analyzing  instances of interference. It begins with excerpts from an article by Kuehn and McCormack (“Lessons from Forty Years of Interference in Law School Clinics”) that presents a typology for classifying interference, illustrating the typology through a history of attacks on clinics beginning in the late 1960s. The chapter then provides information on some more recent examples of interference, underscoring that efforts to restrict law clinic representation is an ongoing concern.
